VOA Spanish Adds reach in Patagonia
Radio Uno, 93.7FM, a leading radio station in Peru’s southernmost city of Tacna, near the Chilean border, has signed on to receive Voice of America Spanish-language content via the VOA Direct platform. VOA Direct allows enables affiliates to download broadcast quality audio and video via the internet.
Radio Uno will pull short and long-form content, airing VOA Spanish programming deeper in the Southern Cone/Patagonia region.
Uganda FM Adds Straight Talk Africa Simulcast
Mega General Manager Irene Atek said the addition, “Will at long last fill in the gap on African topical shows that we have always wanted from (Ugandan-born Straight Talk host) Shaka Ssali.”
Gulu was the center of the conflict between the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces and Joseph Kony’s Lords Resistance Army (LRA) that saw north Uganda torn apart in chaos for almost two decades. Mega FM received praised as one of the key players in the peace process having encouraged dialogue by the fighting parties.
VOA Russian Service in Deal With IPTV Aggregator Galargo TV
Following up a productive meeting at the Russian Internet Week conference, BBG representatives have signed a deal with Galargo TV, an internet TV portal.
Galargo TV currently aggregates and distributes approximately 200 different channels and has a monthly user base of 3 million people, with 60,000 to 80,000 visits per day.
VOA Russian’s Podelis and VOA 60 programs are now available on the platform.
