VOA Signs with Lao National Radio
The Voice of America has entered into a co-production agreement with Lao National Radio for English teaching lessons.
Learning English programming has long been a strength of VOA, and interest in the modules has been high as English continues to grow as the lingua franca of business worldwide.
Scripts for the initial 52 lessons will be provided by the VOA Lao Service and produced at the LNR studios. The programming will air twice weekly across LNR’s nationwide network of FM stations.
VOA Adds New FM in Uganda
The station will air the programs Daybreak Africa and African Beat as well as news headlines and elements from Africa News Tonight.
Mbabule 101 FM reaches 2.7 million people living in Uganda and adjacent Tanzania.
Voice of America Expands Mobile Reach in Rwanda
Net Solutions has a subscriber base of 300,000 in Rwanda.
Voice of America LatAm Service Strengthens Ties at Canitec 2013
Latin American television trade show took place May 29-31 in Mexico City.
The BBG’s Oscar Barcelo attended the event, strengthening ties with major affiliates such as Mexico’s TV Azteca. Numerous other meetings were held with regional cable channels and other potential new affiliates from throughout Latin America.
VOA’s Latin American Service has grown dramatically since adopting a “U.S. Bureau” strategy, whereby VOA serves major news outlets throughout the region with customized reports and packages. Since adopting the strategy, VOA LatAm’s weekly audience has grown from 3 million weekly to 26 million people every week.
